Surprise checks conducted on 12 restaurants

The raids were conducted by GHMC chief medical officer-health Shalini Devi and assistant medical officer health (Circle 10) Balaji Raju, along with a battery of food inspectors, under the supervision of GHMC additional commissioner (health & sanitation) L Vandan Kumar.During inspection at Mainland China opposite the chief minister’s camp office at Begumpet, the officials found cooked food and raw material stored in refrigerators beyond the prescribed time limit and in violation of norms. They seized the rotten food the samples of which will be sent for examination in a laboratory.Later, the team visited Pulla Reddy Sweets and noticed unhygienic conditions in the kitchen and lack of precautions while packing sweets. They found sweets scattered in unhygienic conditions and the empty packaging boxes covered with dust. During enquiry it came to light that the salaries of employees who are from Jharkhand and Anantapur are a paltry Rs 4,000 which is below the prescribed minimum wages.
