THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In view of the UDF Government’s decision to scrap unification of retirement date and raise pension age to 56, supernumerary posts will be created for recruitment to all posts that should have become vacant on March 31, Chief Minister Oommen Chnady told a post-Cabinet briefing here on Wednesday.As many as 13,678 employees would have retired on March 31. 10,686 vacancies have been reported to the PSC. The remaining 2,992 vacancies will be reported soon, he said.In the case of school teachers, the UDF youth organisations have requested a package. Their views too will be taken into account and Finance Minister K M Mani will announce the details in the Assembly, Chandy said.On the protest demonstrations unleashed by Left organisations against raising the pension age, Chandy pointed out that it was the previous LDF Government that had raised pension age in many of the PSUs to 58.APPOINTMENT: Febin Raj, the youngster who got selection as a forest guard but whose leg had to be amputated following an accident during pre-induction training, will be given a job as LD clerk in the Forest Department, Chandy said.STIPEND: The Cabinet decided to raise the stipend of Homoeo and Ayurveda PG students to Rs 17,000.CIVIL SERVICES INSTITUTE: Rs 10 crore has been sanctioned for a building for the Civil Services Institute in Thiruvananthapuram.
