Submit satus report on gangrape case

BHUBANESWAR: The Orissa Human Rights Commission (OHRC) has directed Superintendent of Police of Balasore district to submit status report on the alleged gangrape of a 23-year-old girl under Khaira police limits in two weeks. On January 21, the girl had filed a petition before the Commission alleging she had been subjected to gangrape on September 25 in Simulia forests but police were not taking any action to arrest the culprits. The girl also alleged that the accused had clicked objectionable pictures of her and circulated them as MMS through mobile phones. One of the four accused is son of a sarpanch, she said.  The victim had named the accused as Laxmidhar Nayak, Pradeep Jena, Ramesh Sahu and Pitamber Jena. The FIR was lodged on November 3 but no one has been arrested yet. The Balasore Police have also announced cash rewards on information on the accused.
