RAYAGADA: Alleging neglect by authorities, 165 residents of Government High School, Dongasarada in Chandrapur block left their hostel. The students alleged they had been writing to the authorities to solve their problems but it had fallen on deaf ears. Peeved over the alleged neglect, the students put up posters on the school walls and nearby places before leaving the hostel en masse.Their problems include lack of sanitation and drinking water facility in the hostel, inadequate teaching staff and incomplete hostel building for girl students.The students had drawn the attention of the district collector, the sub-collector and the BDO besides the District Welfare Officer (DWO) to their problems, District Collector Nitin Bhanudas Jawale said. Nearly 30 students have since been brought back to the school by the teachers. Jawale said the DWO and the Project Administrator of ITDS, have been directed to inquire.Phulbani: As many as 83 students of Class 9 of a Kanyashram run by SC&ST Development Department at Daringbadi left the school on Monday protesting misbehaviour by headmistress of the school. DWO Paramananda Prusty said the headmistress Jhunurani Pradhan had scolded the students for misplacing some spades on the school premises. The BDO and other officials are investigating.
