New Delhi: A massive march is being held in the national capital remembering Hyderabad University scholar Rohith Vemula, who had committed suicide inside campus.
Rohith's mother, brother have also joined the march and have demanded a Rohith Act to prevent recurrence of similar instances in the future.
Speaking to CNN-IBN, Vemula's mother said, "I have come to seek justice for my son. The lathicharge and what happened at JNU was not right."
Several politicians, including Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal decided to join the protesting students. Several other Aam Aadmi Party and Left leaders also joined the protest.
Student unions from across several party lines joined hands in the march calling it 'Justice for Rohith March'.
The issue is also set to resonate in Parliament as Left parties have sought a debate on it.
