CHIKMAGALUR: Yuvashakti Vahini - a jatha launched by the All India Youth Federation from the Freedom Park in Bangalore on August 9, with a mission to collect signatures against corruption, arrived in the city on  Independence Day.It was launched on August 9 to mark the celebration of the Quit India movement. The idea in the 1940s was to ask the British to leave. But today, the theme is to call on the corrupt to quit power, the activists said.Politicians and bureaucrats had sullied the name of the state at the national level by indulging in rampant looting of ore deposits. By immoral politics, these politicos had attempted to sabotage the democratic           system. The Lokayukta had indicted ministers, MLAs and officials for causing `16,085 crore loss to the exchequer, they alleged.By illegal accumulation of wealth, electoral system and social life had been completely damaged. Those involved in the illegal mining should be punished. It was not enough if the Chief Minister was thrown out of power but he must be prosecuted under law. The looted money should be confiscated, they urged. The activists said that after collection of signatures from students, youths and                 common people, the memorandum would be submitted to Karnataka Governor on August 26.Leaders Sathi Sundaresh and others took part in the jatha.
