HYDERABAD: The State Level Police Recruitment Board (SLPRB) has said that it has evolved new methods to check malpractices in the SI recruitment examination to be held on August 13 and 14. The thumb impressions of the candidates have been taken to ensure that no impersonation takes place in the recruitment process.Additional director general of police and SLPRB chairman M Malakondaiah speaking to newsmen here on Wednesday said the thumb impressions of the candidates have been scanned for identification. This is done in view of the impersonation of candidates that took place during the 2008 recruitment. The Crime Investigation Department (CID) had recently unearthed a major scandal wherein some SIs, who have been selected, have impersonated for aspiring candidates and they have been arrested for the fraud.“The scanned thumb impressions of the candidates have been uploaded and they would be sent to the deputy inspector general of police concerned for verification,’’ Malakondaiah said. The bio-metric scanning of fingerprints has been conducted on all the 18,000-odd candidates appearing for the exam across the state. A total of 1,293 SI posts in civil, Armed Reserve and AP Special Police (APSP) would be filled in the state police department.According to Malakondaiah, details of candidates have been uploaded. “Once the roll number is entered, particulars of the candidates along with photograph would appear on screen. This would be verified by bio-metric scanners. This would be done for all examinations on August 13 and 14,’’ he said.
