The Sree Ramakrishna Mission, here and Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari, jointly have requested the devotees and people at large to contribute to the cause of installation of a bronze statue of Swami Vivekananda at Kowdiar park in the city.
The total expenditure is estimated to be around `10 lakh. The contributions which would get an exemption from tax, can be send to Swami Tatwaroopananda, Adhyaksha, Sreeramakrishna Mission, Sasthamangalam or P Parameswaran, president Vivekanandakendram, Sanskriti Bhavan, Statue, Thiruvananthapuram. It is in memory of Swamiji’s visit to T’Puram during the month of December in 1892 that the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation has given permission to erect Swamiji’s idol, on the occasion of the nationwide celebration of his 150th birth anniversary. Swami Tatwaroopananda and P Parameswaran congratulated the Mayor and councillors for granting the approval for the project.
