BANGALORE: Members of the BBMP Standing Committee (Finance) locked Chief Accounts Officer (CAO)’s office doors for not providing details they had sought and approached the commissioner for further action.According to sources, BBMP has not cleared a ‘very urgent’ letter posted by Additional Chief Secretary (Urban Development) to Chief Account Officer’s office, which was sent three months ago.A Release from BBMP said that members of the Standing Committee (Finance) inspected the CAO on Monday and revealed that many important letters were lying unattended for the past six to seven months.Apart from this irregularity, though an employee has repaid his loan completely, his salary is still being deducted.The DD returned from the bank concerned has been lying with BBMP for the past four months.Also, Joint Commissioner’s (Welfare) letter to the CAO requesting change in cheque sanctioned to Justice A J Sadashiva Commission’s survey has been lying untouched for three months.Letters from higher authorities have been unanswered for many months.Members of the Committee alleged that only ‘selected files’ were answered by the officials and it was not on priority basis.Further, Standing Committee alleged that audit work was done without providing balance sheet.Annual audit has not been done for many years at the CAO’s office, the release said.Sources said at the Horticulture department, cheques worth Rs 68 lakh have been distributed to nine works that were not approved.
