Soon, pay toll to drive on state highways

BANGALORE: Travelling on state highways will cost you more in future as the state Cabinet on Thursday gave its approval to the model concessional agreement that makes collection of toll mandatory on state highways to be developed under the PPP model.The agreement, to be called Karnataka Model Concession Agreement for State Highways, is based on the draft agreement provided by the Centre to all states. With the Cabinet ratifying the model agreement, private companies are eligible to collect toll on roads they develop under the PPP model.Considering issues surrounding toll collection in all states, the Centre had prepared a common concessional agreement and circulated it to all states for ratification, said PWD Minister C M Udasi. He said the state was yet to identify the roads to be developed.
