Social activists honoured

CHENNAI: The Chromepet-based Peoples’ Awareness Association on Tuesday honoured 35 social activists from the locality, to recognise their service to society. Justice T N Vallinayagam, former Judge, High Courts of Madras and Karnataka, was the chief guest at the function and gave away the medals and certificates.The list of recipients of the annual awards include A Krishnan, PS Mani, D Jagannathan, P Dhanuskodi, R Munusamy, N Krishnan, R Badri Iyer, S Masilamani, PR Bhusanam, N Murugesan, S Rajamani, R K Panicker, S Chellammal, N Gurunathan, R Ranganathan, Aru Ramamurthy, M C Balaraman, V Rama Rao, Dattatri, V Srinivasan, D Dharmapal, N Kesavulu, PM Babu, Mangai Soundararajan, K Subramanian, SN Santhanam, Amirtha Rajagopal, K Selvam, Victor Chellappa, S Meenakshi Sundaram, R Ramadass, Isaianban, AJ Ethiraj and I Thangaraj. “We instituted the awards to honour  social activists from Pallavaram and its adjacent areas. We will conduct it every year,” said V Santhanam, president, Peoples’ Awareness Association.
