Sikh youth belonging to Lashkar arrested in J-K

New Delhi: A Sikh youth, Popinder Singh, has been arrested in Jammu and Kashmir for suspected links with Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Toiba. It is the first time that a Sikh youth having a link with a terror group active in Jammu and Kashmir has been arrested.

The 30-year-old Sikh man was arrested by a Special Operation Group of Jammu and Kashmir Police from his village Chougal Handwara on Friday.

Police say, Singh who is employed with the Sogam Primary Health Centre, is an worker of the Lashkar in North Kashmir.

Police also claim that he has been affiliated with the terrorist outfit for the past one year and was in contact with Lashkar commander Furkan.

Police say he also ferried weapons and money acros the valley. Police claim have recovered two hand grenades from his possession. Singh is now being interrogated to find out the details of his association with Lashkar.
