BANGALORE: It has been almost 116 years since the first commercial film was screened in the Grand Cafe in Paris. From 1895, the film industry has seen some revolutionising changes since. Two dimensional films gave way to three dimensional. The latter has now carved the path for 4D films.Unlike a regular movie, a 3D gives the illusion of depth to the viewer, hence a more realistic experience. However, Spy Kids: All the Time in the World, directed and produced by Robert Rodriguez will take that experience to the next level. The movie is a first of it kind film that offer the viewer’s ‘Aroma Scope’, a 4D experiential that intrigues the audience’s olfactory nerves as well.The film is scheduled to release world wide on August 19, and Bangalore too will witness the many action packed scenes. While watching them the viewer can literally smell smells related to the scenes. For instance when Jessica Alba’s character Marissa fights an evil genius, Who is in the verge of taking on the world, audiences across the world can actually smell the blood and sweat. The director added the ‘Aroma’ effect in the film to enable a more interactive movie watching experience.The audience will be given an ‘Aromascope’ card with the ticket, which will enable to smell the action. The card will hold eight different type of smells. Along with each individual admission tickets an Aromascope card is given that is free of charge with easy to read numbers outlined. As the numbers flash on the movie screen the audience has to rub the corresponding number on their card. When each of the eight aromas have been unleashed, the viewer will get to experience a special moment in the film and can almost be transported into scenes.Avinaash Jumani, Film Acquisitions & Sales, Spy Kids 4, Pictureworks, told City Express, “Aromascope being an added feature for the very first time, the Indian audiences will like this new experience. The film will feature both 3D and the added 4D Aromascope.”Further, chief operating officer for PVR Cinemas added that all the movie goer will need to do is, rub the card every time the number flashes. When questioned if the consumer will end up paying more attention to when the number flashes, instead of watching the film, he said, that it on experimental basis. The reactions at the moment are hypothetical. “It will definitely be very entertaining for kids as they would be fascinated with the whole concept. In Bangalore, the movie will be screened in all the 3D theatres. The ticket prices will be at par with the rest.
