KHAMMAM: Security has been beefed up on the Andhra- Chhattisgarh border area as Maoists have given a call to observe Martyrs’ Week from July 28 to August 3.Scores of wall posters, leaflets and pamphlets have sprung up in Charla and Venkatapuram mandals of Bhadrachalam division calling people to take part. The Maoists have also given a bandh call in Bastar division in Dantewada district in Chhattishgarh as part of the Martyrs’ week. The top police brass is worried that the Maoists could resort to violence this time round to announce their presence in the region. The intelligence department has warned the police about possible attack by Maoists.Leaving nothing to chance, police have deployed huge forces of Grey Hounds, CRPF and Armed forces in the Bhadrachalam agency area and took up extensive combing operations. Leaders of political parties and public representatives were told to avoid going to the agency areas.
