Nurmahal (Jalandhar): Four including three school children were killed and several others were injured when their school van collided with the Ferozepur-Bathinda Express at an unmanned railway crossing at Gumtala village in Jalandhar district on Wednesday morning.
The school van was crossing the unmanned crossing at Gumatala when the mishap took place, police said.
The impact of the collision was so big that the van dragged with the train at least 200 meters away.
Three of the students and driver of the van were killed on the spot while several students were injured.
The injured have been taken to nearby hospitals where the condition of some of them was stated to be critical.
Senior police and railway officials have rushed to the spot for rescue operations.
