New Delhi: If a report from The Korean Times is to be believed, a Samsung executive has confirmed that the company will unveil the Galaxy Gear smartwatch at the September 4 event in Berlin.
Lee Young-hee, executive vice president, Samsung Mobile, says that the smartwatch will be based on Android and will have a "non-flexible" display. She further informs that the Galaxy Gear is a "wearable concept device," which raises doubts about the availability of the device in the markets.
"The new device will enhance and enrich the current smart mobile experience in many ways. It will lead a new trend in smart mobile communications. We are confident that the Gear will add meaningful momentum to the mobile industry," adds Lee.
She also confirms that the much-anticipated Galaxy Note III will also be unveiled at the same event. Speculations are rife that the Galaxy Note III will feature a 5.7-inch display, Qualcomm 800 CPU and include LTE-A support. The phone is expected to sport a 13 megapixel camera and come with 2GB RAM.
The company will live stream the event on its Samsung Mobile YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/samsungmobile).
