New Delhi: While the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) may be declaring victory over alleged confessions of Malegaon blast accused, Lt Col Purohit, many of the ATS's revelations in the past few days seem to contradict other investigations.
Though ATS officials say Lt Col Purohit supplied explosives for other blasts, including those on board the Samjhauta Express, the Chandigarh Forensic Science Laboratory said very minor traces of RDX were found in the Samjhauta blasts case - even though the Special Investigation Team of the Haryana Police categorically claimed RDX was used.
Also, what is not clear is where the RDX actually came from. The Maharashtra ATS has now backtracked on its claim that RDX sourced from the Army was used in the train blasts. The ATS has clarified that it was investigating where the RDX "pilfered from the Army" was used.
Meanwhile, Special Public Prosecutor, Ajay Misar says facts will be proven only after thorough investigation.
"Large amounts of RDX was recovered from Purohit. Whether the same was used for Samjhauta blasts will be revealed in the investigations. It was also found that Rs 25,000 were given to a builder in Nashik. We don't know what the purpose of that was."
"Purohit gave part of the 60 kg RDX that he had to Bhagwan and the ATS is probing the possibilities of where all this RDX could have been used. It may not have anything to do with Samjhauta blasts," Misar added.
