Jodhpur: Six Bollywood stars including Salman Khan, accused of poaching of two Black bucks in Kankani near Jodhpur in 1998, failed to appear in the court on Monday.
Actors Saif Ali Khan, Neelam, Sonali Bendre, Tabu, named in the complaint along with Dinesh Ghavre and Dushyant Singh were to be present in the court of judicial magistrate in Jodhpur.
Dushyant Singh was, however, present in the court.
A local court on February 17 sentenced Salman to one year's imprisonment and fined him Rs 5,000 in the case. However, the chief judicial magistrate granted him bail immediately.
The verdict came in one of the four cases filed against the actor in the September 1998 poaching incident.
Salman also faces trial for keeping illegal arms and illegal hunting on October 1 of the same year.
Counsel for the film stars Hastimal Saraswat submitted the actors' plea for not being able to be present at the court. The case relates to poaching of two Black bucks in the intervening night of October 1 and 2, 1998 near Kankani.
During the filming of Hum Saath Saath Hain, a case was lodged by the Rajasthan Forest Department against Salman and the other five on allegations that two black bucks were killed at Kakani in Luni block of the district on October 1 and 2, 1998.
Police filed a chargesheet in the case in 2000.
