KOCHI: Sainuddin alias Sattar Bhai, an accused in the Kashmir terrorist recruitment case, was produced before the Ernakulam NIA Special Court on Monday amidst tight security. Sainuddin, who is also an accused in the Gujarat bomb blast case, was brought from Ahmedabad Central Jail and produced at the residence of Judge S Vijayakumar. The accused was remanded for 14 days and was taken back to Ahmedabad. Sainuddin is a key operative of the suspected terrorist network having links with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). The accused was produced at the Judge’s residence since Monday was a holiday.The court had earlier issued a warrant and directed the jail authorities to produce the accused in the court. The Gujarat Police had brought Sainuddin under tight security, with armed police personnel accompanying him. An NIA team was also present before the Judge.  According to the NIA chargesheet, Sainuddin played a key role in recruiting youth in the state for arms training from the LeT in Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan. The chargesheet also said that he had organised youth under the guise of the activities of Tariqat (a school of Sufism) meetings at Neerchal, near Kannur, Kanhangad, Malappuram, a Makham shrine at Mudikkal, Kaniyapuram and the Dargah of Jamiya Nooriya in Hyderabad. His involvement in subversive activities came to light with the arrest of his relative Abdul Jabbar, who was caught while attempting to cross the border in Kashmir.The NIA had filed a charge-sheet against 24 accused, including Wali, a Pakistan national,  relating to the enrolment of several youth from Kerala for anti-national activities. Out of the 24, 11 of them involved in the Bangalore blast case had earlier been brought to Kochi from the Bangalore Central Jail.  Abdul Jaleel, M H Faisal, Thadiyantavida Nazeer, P Mujeeb, Shafas, Ibrahim Moulavi, Badaruddin, Abdul Jabbar, Sabir Buhari, Umar Farooq, Sarfraz Navas were the accused brought from Bangalore.The accused have been charged with anti-national activities, waging war against the nation, possession of weapons and acts of sabotage.  The chargesheet said that Abdul Jaleel, along with other accused, operating in and out of Kerala, and allegedly having links with terrorist organisations, recruited youngsters for Jehadi training in Pakistan, thereby assisting the LeT. Four Keralites - Fayas, Abdul Rahim, Mohammed Yasin and Fayis - who were recruited were killed in an encounter with the security forces in 2008.
