KOCHI: The residents of Karshaka Road are set to approach the court regarding the rampant corruption at ration shops. It has been four months since the Karithala Vikasana Samiti filed a complaint with the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Wing on the issue. The residents allege that the food supplied to the ration shop is being siphoned off to private parties. “The food that is supplied from Food Corporation of India (FCI) is sold elsewhere and low quality food is supplied to the residents. The residents do not buy the food but fake signatures are marked indicating that the supply is done,” said Kunjachan, a resident of the area. Other discrepancies pointed out by the residents include failure to display the details on the items available in the ration shop as per the prescriptions, failure to display a sealed sample of the items procured from FCI,  failure to keep the ration shops open on all the prescribed days, failure to list the prices of the available food items and failure to use the prescribed measuring equipment for supply of items.
