Recounting changes fate of 2 candidates

ROURKELA: The recounting on Tuesday cast a shadow on the victory celebrations of two sarpanch candidates. The sarpanch candidates in Subdega and Gurundia blocks had won by a slim margin in the polling on February 15 and 19 respectively, counting of which took place on the same days. In a turnaround of events during Tuesday’s recounting, District Panchayat officer Guruva Singh said  sarpanch candidate Magdali Dungdung of Damkuda GP in Subdega who initially won by a vote lost to Sushma Sarojini Tete by four votes after Tuesday’s recounting.Sarpanch candidate B Oram of Chandiposh GP in Gurundia, who won by eight votes in the first counting, faced defeat by three votes from Bilasini Oram in recounting, Singh said.Election results were announced for seven of the total 17 blocks by Tuesday evening, said Sundargarh Collector Rupa Roshan Sahu.
