The Kerala High Court on Tuesday stayed for three weeks an order issued by the Railways Kollam Second Class Magistrate summoning poet M R Jayageetha for alleged ticketless travel.
The magistrate court had issued summons to Jayageetha, working as a research officer at the State Planning Board. Jayageetha was allegedly harassed by train ticket examiners on February 17. Pursuant to the incident, the Railways had registered a case against her.
The ticket examiners had asked her to get off the train even though she possessed a season ticket to travel in the first class compartment of a super fast train. The ticket examiners showered abuses on Jayageetha and her husband who was waiting to receive her at the railway station.
The petitioner submitted the first class super fast season ticket with ID card. Considering this, Justice S S Satheesachandran stayed the order of the magistrate.
