New Delhi: A Delhi court took cognizance of the chargesheet filed against Rahul Mahajan and five other accused in the drug abuse case and issued summons to them to appear before it on September 14.

Additional Sessions Judge S N Gupta summoned Rahul, Sahil Zaroo, Harish Sharma, Ganesh Kumar Sinha and two Nigerian nationals Abdul Latif Ashola Md Abdullah and Egbedokun James Taiwo, all accused in the case, to appear before it on September 14.

Rahul, son of late BJP leader Pramod Mahajan, and others were chargesheeted on Thursday with the prosecution accusing Mahajan of indulging in financing of illicit trafficking of drugs and possessing the contraband for consumption.

The chargesheet filed by Delhi police alleged that Rahul used his late father's official residence for ‘distribution and consumption of drugs by organising a party on the intervening night of June 1 and 2’.

Zaroo was charged with having cocaine for personal consumption and indulging in trafficking.

Another close acquaintance of senior BJP leader, Harish Sharma along with Mahajan's servant Ganesh Kumar Sinha has been charged with destroying the evidence.

The chargesheet said that the two Nigerians--Abdul Latif Ashola Mohd Abdulla and Egbedokun James Taiwo--who are in Tihar jail, have been accused of peddling drugs and separate cases under the foreigners act has been registered against them for living in India without valid documents.

Sahil and Rahul, alongwith the late Mahajan's key aide Vivek Moitra, had allegedly consumed an unspecified quantity of contraband on June 1.

While Moitra died due to alleged drug abuse, Rahul and Sahil had to be medically treated.
