HYDERABAD: The second phase of Rachabanda will be taken up next month with focus on distribution of ration cards, pensions, houses and Aarogyasri cards for which applications were received in the first phase during January-February this year. The second-phase programme will cost the exchequer Rs 1,650 crore.At a review meeting here on Tuesday chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy reviewed the status of the pending applications. The meeting also discussed the distribution of benefits in the next phase. The chief minister asked the officials that all the promises made last time  should be kept in the latest edition of the programme.About 24.4 lakh applicants have been identified as being eligible to receive new white ration cards. Similarly, 5.23 lakh applicants for social security pension and 15 lakh for houses were identified as being eligible. While the ration cards and pension will be distributed in the next couple of months, houses will be allotted in three phases over the next three years. The chief minister asked the officials to release about Rs 294.83 crore for rural areas and Rs 124.94 crore for urban areas for loans under the Pavala Vaddi scheme.A group of ministers on Rachabanda was constituted with housing minister K Lakshminarayana as convener. A cabinet sub-committee has monitored the scrutiny of applications received during the previous phase of Rachabanda and submitted a report to the chief minister.   Sub-committee members K Lakshminarayana, A Ramnarayana Reddy, D Prasada Rao, B Satyanarayana and N Raghuveera Reddy, and senior IAS officers and other officials attended the meeting.
