CHENNAI: Proceedings in the Sankararaman murder case have been stayed after petitioner Sundararajan presented tapes indicating attempts to bribe the Principal Sessions Judge, Puducherry, who is hearing the case.“Tapes containing conversations purported to be those of the Sankaracharya and the judge and/or his representative emerged discussing payments and assuring balance payable by Sankarcharya,” the petitioner alleged.Sundararajan claimed that the latest leaked tapes were conference calls recorded by one of the parties to the discussions and put in the public domain, either due to financial betrayal or owing to awakening of the whistleblower’s inner conscience. The petitioner prayed for a direction to the Registrar, Vigilance Cell, attached to the HC, to hold statutory investigation by registering an FIR on his complaint and submit a report.
