Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Jail Minister Jai Kumar Singh on Wednesday said that educated people are spoiling the atmosphere of the country and education is not necessary to become a politician.
Singh, an Apna Dal legislator and a minister in the Yogi Adityanath-led Bharatiya Janata Party government in the state, was speaking at a gathering in Mahmoodabad area of Sitapur district, where many students were in the audience.
Addressing the students, Singh said, “Education will not yield anything, educated ones mostly do slavery. I sit among so many IAS and IPS officers and many of them say that politicians are not educated but they rule over educated people. I have a personal secretary and various Head of the Departments.”
“I don’t have to run the jail, it is run by the superintendent. My job is to ensure smooth management of the jails. A politican has nothing to do with knowledge or degree. If I say that an ITI needs to be constructed then its job of the engineer to make it, my job is to look after its management. The educated ones are spoiling the atmosphere of the society,” he added.
Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav attacked the BJP over the bizarre statement and said that BJP has nothing to do with education.
Addressing the media in Azamgarh, Yadav said, “What else do you expect from BJP and its people? This is what was expected from them. They came in power on the issue of cow but after coming to power their working style has changed. We all know that education is important but today a minister is saying that educated people are spoiling the atmosphere.”
