Police on Thursday rescued a youth, abducted for a ransom of Rs 60 lakh, from a jungle in Munger district, Senior Superintendent of Police Manu Maharaj said.

Police on Thursday rescued a youth, abducted for a ransom of Rs 60 lakh, from a jungle in Munger district, Senior Superintendent of Police Manu Maharaj said.

A police team led by Maharaj rescued Suraj Kumar who was kidnapped from the Akash Institute at Fraser road in the state capital on August 11. The step maternal uncle of Suraj was arrested in connection with the abduction.

The SSP said in course of investigation the police team visited West Bengal where they came to know the abductors were in touch with Maoists and took the youth to the jungles in Munger.

Police rescued Suraj and arrested his uncle luring the kidnappers by offering Rs 60,000 as initial payment. Police is looking for three other kidnappers including a CRPF deserter Gautam Singh in the case, the SSP added
