BANGALORE: The Bangalore city police have written to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) and Indian Premier League (IPL) authorities to initiate action against cricketer Venkatesh Prasad, for allegedly breaching security norms by taking his wife and friends to the unauthorised zone and violating the ICC code of conduct on Sunday night. Prasad and his wife Jayanthi were involved in a heated argument with senior police officials when a police officer asked Jayanthi to leave the players’ area.Meanwhile, Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), T Suneel Kumar told reporters that it was unfortunate that such incidents were becoming common. “People should understand that police are there to safeguard them and implement law. There is no point in getting hurt if police ask somebody to obey rules. However, all the staff have been instructed to handle such situations intelligently,” Suneel Kumar observed.
