London: Kevin Pietersen has been ruled out of the remaining three Tests of the Ashes series after undergoing surgery on his Achilles tendon on Wednesday.
The former England skipper will be sidelined for up to six weeks.
Pietersen was assessed by a leading specialist this morning where the decision was made to undergo surgery which will rule him out of all cricket for up to six weeks, according to a report in the Times.
Pietersen said: "As an England cricketer, the Ashes are the pinnacle of the game, so I'm absolutely devastated to be missing the rest of this series."
England won the second Test on Monday to lead 1-0 in the series.
