BANGALORE: Opposition leader Udayshankar is suggesting the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) to conserve energy.He has spoken to the commissioner and has offered a few tips which may come in handy for the Palike to cut down on their power consumption.In a release Udayshankar sent, he stated that the Palike should use less or completely avoid leaving the lights in their parks on, in a bid to save energy.The Palike can switch on the lights at certain time in the evening and then later they can switch them off, he suggested.Another tip which he gave the Palike officials was to ensure that the street lights were switched off during the day. “It can conserve energy to some extent,” he said. According to Udayshankar, all the Palike offices are air-conditioned.He urged the officials to switch off their AC in the offices, till the power crisis in the city is resolved. He also asked the BBMP commissioner to send an official circular to all the departments of the BBMP asking the Palike employees to use less power and conserve as much as possible. “Civic bodies such as the BBMP must come forward in saving power. They should sent an example and be role models for others to follow," said the opposition leader.
