Technopark is in high spirits with the onset of the Malayalam month of Chingam. The rare sight of techies clad in traditional attire brings a new look to the campus. Every day, the campus is in a festive mood as most of the 245 companies celebrate Onam on one day or the other. Techies celebrate Onam in their own special way.
‘E-upperi’ is one of the specialities this Onam. Technopark-based website TechnoparkToday.com, in association with GlenLear marketing services, has launched a facility where techies can order doorstep delivery of ‘upperi’ and ‘sarkara varatti.’ “Fresh ‘upperis’ and ‘sarkkara varattis’ will be made available in 500 g packets. With the rise of Onam celebrations on the campus, we are getting more orders,” Renjith Ramachandran, who runs Technoparktoday, said.
Employees dressed up for ‘pulikali’ and as Maveli are the major attractions at the function. Even screening of short films is part of the Onam celebration for some companies. Accentia Technologies had organised the screening of a short film based on ‘Ottam Thullal.’ Screening of short films made by employees has been a speciality of Accentia’s Onam celebration for the past four years.
Onam is another platform for techies to exhibit their talents. ‘Thiruvathirakali’, group dance, songs etc are integral part of Onam celebration in Technopark companies. Some companies organise competitions such as tug-of-war. Apart from the entertainment programmes, competitions are held to select ‘Malayali Manka’ and ‘Kerala Sreeman.’
The club house of Technopark is the major venue of celebrations. It is hosting the celebration of at least 10 companies during August 18-27. Apart from this, the Technopark club house organised an Onam celebration which began on June 10. It concluded on Wednesday with an ‘Onasadya.’
