Nursing school chief held for fraud

ROURKELA: The director of a nursing school, Siva Prakash Mohanty, has been arrested by the Sundargarh Town police on charges of fraud.Mohanty had set up Kusum School of Nursing at Maheshdihi in 2007. The institute was running without legal sanction. The arrest came after a group of students reported to the police that they had been cheated by the institute. Investigation revealed that each of the 30 students of the second batch paid around ` 19,000.  Police are also trying to find out the amount paid by 30 other students of the first batch. IIC Sujata Panda said the school was running from a rented accommodation and in violation of the guidelines of the Indian Nursing Council, adding that students of the institute  were never issued any valid certificate from a competant authority.
