Notice issued to 29 doctors

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: NRHM State Mission Director Biju Prabhakar has issued notices to 29 doctors appointed on mandatory rural service in Wayanad, but who went on unauthorised leave.The doctors, who were issued notices were also asked to appear before the Wayanad DMO on July 8. However, only five doctors appeared before the DMO.As per the government order on October 7, 2008, there are provisions to fine Rs 5 lakh and take further actions against these doctors. Accordingly, the state mission director has submitted the list of doctors to the State Government.As many as 464 doctors in 13 districts, who had gone on unauthorised leave were asked to appear before the respective DMOs on or before July 20. The names and details of those who do not report will be conveyed to the State Government and the state mission director will recommend levy of fine and further action.
