BHUBANESWAR: College students across the City are braced for elections after filing the nomination papers on Thursday. The process was a peaceful one according to the Student Advisor of Utkal University, Gopal. The students were properly coordinated while filing the nominations.In the run-up to the students’ union elections, various committees have been formed with the faculties and hostel wardens. Each committee has been designated a task and they are working round the clock for a smooth election on September 29. Security has been upped in most of the colleges to avoid any untoward situation during the polls. Multiple nominations for the president’s post have been filed in Utkal University while other posts are uncontested for. Rama Devi College saw five presidential nominations and four nominations for the general secretary’s post. Similarly, there were two presidential and three general secretary nominations in Rajdhani, and two presidential nominations in Kamla Nehru College. The final list of the nominees will be out on Friday after scrutiny. Elections in BJB Autonomous college, Maharshi College of Natural Law and Ekamra College were cancelled following clashes among students.
