Kites bought by Reliance Big Pictures for a whopping Rs 150 crore.

Mumbai: Bollywood is on a high without recession causing any effect. After Aamir Khans Ghajini has collected 235 crore rupees, Hrithik Roshan's upcoming film Kites produced by Rakesh Roshan and directed by Anurag Basu has been bought by Reliance Big Pictures for a whopping Rs 150 crore which makes it the biggest deal in Bollywood.

The deal includes worldwide rights, along with overseas, music, satellite and video rights. The rights for the Hindi version are sold at Rs101 crore and Roshan will also get 80 per cent profit share of the English and Spanish versions which could take the figure as high as Rs 200 crore.

Being the first of its kind the 150 cr deal has shocked everyone in the film trade world.

“It is sold at a high price I know some are saying its Rs100 crore some saying its 150 cr. Reliance has not been doing well. They are in huge losses. So I guess they have just gone ahead with one big gamble to try and recover all the losses,” says Trade Analyst, Amod Mehra.

Before the rights of Ghajini were sold at Rupees 80 crore, Singh is king were sold at Rs 60 crore and Om Shanti Om at Rs at 72 crores.

These rocket high prices may generate a lot of money but this automatically puts pressure on Hrithik Roshan even before the release to generate figures like Aamir Khan starrer Ghajini and SRK starrer OSO.
