BANGALORE: While people are welcoming the construction of a sky walk near the Mysore Bank Circle on K G Road, the construction however is forcing people to negotiate heavy traffic on the roads with a narrow pathway allotted as their footpath in front of Cauvery Bhavan. The construction of the sky-walk with lifts in K.G Road in front of Cauvery Bhavan and Kandaya Bhavan means construction materials dumped on the footpath near Cauvery Bhavan, after which people also have to navigate through  the dug-up portions in front of  Kandaya Bhavan. Aluminium sheets have been placed to force people to walk in single file for the last 20 days.  A labourer told this reporter, “I don’t know when it will get over but I can see the public finding it difficult as they don’t have a proper path to walk on.”  It is worse during peak hours as hundreds of people rush out form the various government offices in the vicinity to catch their buses.   However, an advocate Bojappa Kallihales told City Express that “we have to bear with the on convenience because it is happening for a cause — for the development of our city. So we cant object but adjust”. Supporting the idea of development, Shanthi, a homemaker adds, “ It doesn’t mean that a development has to take place troubling the public, it can even happen without any problems when the initiative is taken across in a proper manner.” Bangalore University students suggested a model where the entire structure is constructed elsewhere and the area is closed for not more than a week to complete the construction instead of forcing commuters to face the wrath of the fast-moving traffic on K G Road.
