HYDERABAD: The state government will come up with a new excise policy by June as the present system offered scope for largescale irregularities, said prohibition and excise minister Mopidevi Venkata Ramana here on Thursday.
Speaking to media persons, he said that the present excise policy had several loopholes and needed changes. The current system of auction of liquor shops is flawed and needs to be revised and government is taking steps to plug the loopholes, the minister said.

The next round of auctions is due in June and the government wanted to have a better policy in place before that, he added.

The team would also visit Kerala and Karanataka in the next few days for a similar study, based on which the new policy in the state would be drafted.
