For the next few months, security forces will have a tiring but final assault on Naxalism. A detailed month-wise deadline has been asked to be fixed so that Naxalism can be wiped off by 2026.
Over this period, forces will intensify their operations to penetrate deep into Naxal areas. Additionally, new camps will be set up in various locations, primarily in Sukma and Bijapur, where forces will advance further.
With the recent visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah to Chhattisgarh, it has been decided that multiple agencies and forces will collaborate and establish temporary bases in the Bastar region to eradicate Left Wing Extremism (LWE). According to a top-level official who attended the meeting last weekend, the primary focus areas are setting up camps, breaking the financial chain, and intensifying operations.
“CRPF will set up more than 25 camps in the coming months, which will help the force to advance further in eradicating Naxalism. One of the camps will serve as a base, and forces along with agencies will share information to operate effectively in the area,” a senior government official said.
Sources in the ministry also mentioned that after the rainy season, forces will intensify their operations, focusing on intelligence-based actions until March next year. Post-March, security forces will review their operations and results.
A senior government official stated that while forces will advance into Naxal strongholds, investigative agencies, including the NIA, will work on breaking the financial chain of Naxals. “There are evidences that Naxals are still receiving funding from various sources. Breaking this chain will weaken their operations. Once financial support is disrupted, Naxals will be unable to purchase sophisticated arms and ammunition, which will further aid the forces,” the official told News18.
To avoid any seasonal medical conditions of jawans, forces will have aggressive operations in the coming months. The officers who will have knowledge of operating in LWE areas will be deployed.
Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah chaired a review meeting on Left Wing Extremism (LWE) and an inter-state coordination meeting with Chief Secretaries and Directors General of Police from Chhattisgarh and neighboring states, in Raipur on Saturday. “Strategy for tackling Left Wing Extremism, inter-state coordination, capacity building of security forces, expeditious investigation and prosecution of LWE cases, and comprehensive development of LWE-affected areas were some of the key issues discussed during the meeting,” MHA said in a press release on Saturday.
In his address, Amit Shah stated that the campaign against Left Wing Extremism is now at a decisive stage, and the government is committed to completely eradicating Naxalism from the country before March 2026.
