Mumbai: Even as Daya Nayak, the super cop, started singing after he exhausted all the legal options to evade an arrest, he seems to have opened up a can of worms.
There have now been reports that the Anti-Corruption Bureau of Mumbai police may now want to question Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan in this case.
Amitabh had inaugurated a school built by Daya Nayak in his Karnataka village a few years ago. That photo-op with the then super cop has now come back to haunt the superstar.
Though no one has named Amitabh Bachchan specifically in this case, several well-known personalities who have known Daya Nayak at some point of time, may now be questioned on issues like whether they have donated to his charity, or to his school or whether they were at the receiving end of any extortion threats from him.
Many such prominent personalities could be called by ACB for questioning or recording their statements.
Meanwhile, the Mumbai police commissioner has summarily rubbished Daya Nayak's allegations that his seniors were trying to victimise him and that the agency was attempting to extort money from him.
"This person is making this kind of allegations today because he is facing arrest. As he is facing legal action himself, all this is coming out. If he had all this kind of information, this should have been brought out during all these years. Today, all this is coming out basically as his defence," he said.
