National Press Day on Wednesday

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala Press Academy will observe the National Press Day on November 16. It is to commemorate the formation of the Press Council of India to uphold the freedom of the press and to maintain professional ethics in Journalism across the country.The day is observed since 1966. As part of this, a state-level seminar on ‘Threats to media freedom: The real and the Imagined’ will be held at the Kesari Hall here. Minister for Information and Public Relations K C Joseph will inaugurate the seminar at 10.30 a.m.Sashikumar, chairman, Media Development Foundation and Asian College of Journalism will deliver the keynote address. Malayala Manorama Editorial Director Thomas Jacob and Sebastian Paul will present the theme of the seminar. Press Academy Chairman N P Rajendran will preside over the function.
