Mumbai: A woman was brutally assaulted and set on fire when she tried to protect her daughter from getting molested by a group few unidentified men in Ghatkopar, Mumbai. The victim was allegedly beaten up and then set on fire by two women and a few unidentified men.
The woman, who suffered 90 per cent burn injuries, has been admitted to a hospital and is in critical condition. Doctors treating her say that she is in an extremely critical state and is battling for life.
The police have registered the case under IPC section 307 (Attempt to murder) following the victim's complaint. The victim has alleged that two women along with some unidentified men tried to kill her by setting her on fire.
According to the woman the incident took place when she went to the two accused women to complain about her daughter being sexually harassed and molested. She alleged that the women and their associates started to argue with her and then began assaulting her. They then allegedly set her on fire.
Some people who saw her burning helped her and took her to a hospital. She also alleged that a local Congress leader is also involved in the entire incident.
