BANGALORE: “There is a need for doctors and surgeons to update themselves with various multidisciplinary skills in the field of medical science,” said Dr K Jagadesan, President of the International Medical Sciences Academy (IMSA).Speaking to Express on the sidelines of multidisciplinary programme on continuing medical education organised by Rajarajeshwari Medical College and Hospital in association with IMSA on Wednesday, Dr Jagadesan said there is a need for every medical practioner to update their knowledge. “Ultimately, this will benefit the patient community,” he said. Explaining the purpose of IMSA, Dr Jagadesan said they will organise and facilitate research, conferences, and research in matters relating to different health sciences. “We have more than 3,500 people across the globe in 28 countries who are serving the purpose,” he said, adding that being one of the state which has maximum number of Medical colleges, there is no dearth of students in Karnataka. “We have to involve them,” he said.Inauguration of the conference was followed by scientific session, which included speech on “Analysis of survival curves” by Dr Murali Duggirala, assistant professor of Medicine, Mayo Medical School, followed by Dr Gerard Kamth, assistant professor of Anesthiaolgy, Mayo Medical School.Dr Usha Ramachandra, principal of RRMCH, Dr Rani Devadoss, organising secretary of IMSA, A C Shanmugam, chairman of Rajarajeshwari Group of Institutions were present.
