RAMANATHAPURAM: The fisheries department has stopped issuing fishing tokens on account of the cyclonic warning given by meteorological department on Monday.According to the meteorological department, coastal areas will experience strong winds between 55 and 65 kmph and Rameswaram and Pamban will receive rain. For safety reasons, the fisheries department suspended issuing tokens to the fishermen. The sea in Palk Bay and Gulf of Mannar has been choppy and mechanised boats have been anchored off the shore of Rameswaram and Pamban.Body Washed AshoreThe body of a fisherman was washed ashore at Thirupalaikudi on Monday. Sources said Mohan Kumar (40) of Mandapam, who had ventured out into the sea for fishing from the Soliyakudi seashore on Friday, slipped from the boat and fell into the sea. His body was washed ashore on Monday.
