Meditation balances our lives
Meditation balances our lives
Too many materialistic desires and ambitions shrink our minds and drive out peace, making it difficult to meditate. Balancing our lives can solve this problem.

When we interweave the strands perfectly, an ordinary rope can even tether an elephant or pull a truck. Likewise, when we intertwine the materialistic, divine and spiritual aspects of our lives by allocating enough time to all three aspects every day, we are fashioning the rope of our willpower. Now that our power of discrimination has been triggered by the changes in our lifestyle and the breathing technique that we have started practising, we will be able to assess how balanced our life is. If we have been giving more attention to our materialistic life, we have to correct ourselves. All of us would like our materialistic lives to be comfortable. We want to fulfil our desires and ambitions. There is nothing wrong in setting such materialistic goals for ourselves. However, we should never be obsessive or compulsive about them. If we have too many materialistic desires, aims and ambitions, they would shrink our minds and drive out peace so that we cannot meditate. These desires then generate a lot of expectations and when they are not fulfilled, we are bombarded by stress, tension, anxiety, worries and ill-health. The mind becomes like a poisonous snake trapped in a basket. If we open that basket it creates a problem and if we keep it closed it creates an even bigger problem like panic, fear and anxiety.

When we balance our lives, all this can be avoided. Everything that we have been doing till now through meditation is aimed at setting right this in balance. As we meditate sincerely to make these changes happen one by one, we feel more and more empowered because this increases our willpower. As our willpower becomes stronger, we find it much easier to discipline the mind and transform our thinking patterns. When the mind is disciplined by willpower, the percentage of our freewill increases. Then we will acquire the immense power needed to make our dreams and goals turn realistic. Now my dear friend, just close your eyes and resolve, “From today, I will empower my soul by balancing the materialistic, divine and spiritual aspects of my life by giving equal attention through meditation to all of them every day. In this way I will activate my willpower, discipline my mind and increase my freewill so that I can exit the loop of my karma, fate and destiny.” Continue to make this resolution for the next five days immediately after you practise the technique of cosmic breath. We will then continue our journey together and explore how to strengthen our power of resolution.
