Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav on Saturday said that BSP chief Mayawati is wooing the upper caste for votes.

New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav on Saturday said that BSP chief Mayawati is wooing the upper caste for votes to win the Assembly elections.

"Earlier, she had humiliated the upper castes using derogatory slogans like 'tilak, taraju aur talwar' but is now going all out to woo them for her political interests," PTI quoted him as saying in an election rally.

“Similarly, she dubbed Muslims as 'extremists' recently but is now going about assuring them,” he added.

Yadav accused Mayawati of selling party tickets for huge sums of money.

Turning to the Congress, he said though the party came to power at the Centre on the issue of price rise, it has failed to control the spiraling price rise and the poor are being made to bear the burnt of it.

Yadav also flayed BJP for raking up Ram temple issue at election time and "creating hatred among communities".

"Through our good planning we ensured development of Uttar Pradesh and today the state exchequer has over Rs 25,000 crore. You have to ensure that this amount is not misused by any irresponsible person or party," he added.
