Mannarasala Aayilyam festival to fegin Thursday

ALAPPUZHA: The Mannarasala Nagaraja temple, Haripad, is all set to celebrate aayilyam on Thursday. A mahadeepakazch will be arranged in the temple as part of the festival on Thursday. “Around 20,000 lights will be lit up to a radius of 1.5km around the temple,” said temple authorities. The idol of Naga will be brought to the illam from the temple in the noon. Amma Uma Devi Antharjanam,Ilayamma Savithiri Antharjanam, Karanaver Subhramaniyan Namboothiri and Paremeswaran Namboothiri will bring the idol of Naga King, Sarpa Yakshi, Naga Chamundi and Naga Yakshi respectively to the illam. The idols will be kept in the ‘thalam’ adjacent to the ‘nilavara’ in the illam. Later, a nagakalam will be drowned in the thalam for ayilyam pooja. After drowing the kalam, Amma will go to the sanctum sanctorum to perform poojas. During this time Ezhunnollathu will begin from the temple to the illam. After the arrival of ezhunnollathu in the illam, aayilyam pooja, noorum palum kodukkal, sarpa beli and other rituals will be held.
