Guntur (Andhra Pradesh): After a brief lull, shocking incidents of acid attacks on women are again surfacing in the district. And this time it was a 55-year-old woman of Guthikonda Village in Pidugurala Mandal.
Addressing a press conference in Gutur, Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajendra said M Venkatarammama went to the house of Gangireddy Sydamma and threw acid on her face and body while she was asleep at 0200 hrs IST.
The motive behind the incident was stated to be property dispute, said Rajendra.
"The victim was admitted to Narasaraopet Government Hospital where her condition was stated to be stable," he added.
"Police had arrested Venkatarammama and registered a case,” the police official said.
Earlier, married women were attacked with acid in Nujendla and Medikonduru Mandals on June 17 and 18 in the same district.
