Man allegedly rapes 6-year-old girl at Mathuragate

A six-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a man in a deserted place in Bharatpur city, police said on Wednesday.

The incident happened in Mathuragate area last evening, they said.

A 25-year-old man, running a shop in the area, was arrested after the victim's father lodged an FIR in this connection, police said.

The girl was playing outside her house when the man took her to a deserted place and allegedly raped her, they said.

A case under various sections of the IPC and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 was registered against him.

The incident sparked tension with locals damaging the house of the alleged rapist.
