New Delhi: One of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's pet slogan 'Make in India' got a prominent place in Union Budget 2015. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley referred to 'Make in India' scheme 10 times during his Budget speech in Parliament on Saturday.
He said the Make in India programme is aimed at creating jobs and boosting up manufacturing sector.
"To ensure that our young get proper jobs, we have to aim to make India the manufacturing hub of the world. The 'Skill India' and the 'Make in India' programmes are aimed at doing this," he said.
While Skill India programme needs to be closely coordinated with Make in India to educate young people, Jaitley added that the BJP-led NDA government will pursue the policy to achieve greater self-sufficiency in the area of defence equipment, including aircraft.
