Thane: A local MNS leader was injured after a youth allegedly threw red chilli powder into his eyes and later attacked him with sharp weapons at Rabodi in the district, police said on Saturday.
Head of Rabodi unit of MNS, Jamil Ahmed Shaikh, 43, was attacked by an unidentified youth aged around 25 on Friday, Assistant Police Inspector Suresh Gholap of Rabodi police station said.
The victim is currently undergoing treatment at a local hospital.
In his complaint Shaikh said that when he was returning home after meeting his friends last night, he was stopped by the attacker, who first threw chilli power into his eyes and later attacked him with sharp weapons on his chest and arms.
The attacker has been booked under section 307 of the IPC (attempt to murder) and a hunt was on for him, police said.
